FREEDOM, dans les Champs de coton,

Face aux impériales demeures !

FREEDOM, crient de joyeux poumons,

Effaçant haine et tout malheur !

ALLELUIA chante l'espoir

Par de magnifiques Gospels,

En noirs yeux de velours le soir,

Priant Dieu, un grandiose appel !

Marchant vers la Libération,

A la main, nocturnes lanternes,

Ô Chants délivrant l'émotion,

Balayant aigreurs, balivernes !...

Décimant le fouet, la torture,

Les abus de chair, de luxure,

Abolissant le rouet, morsure,

Terrible, et ses relents de sciure...

FREEDOM, for all men and women,

GLORIA for human joyful,

FREEDOM, the harsh days are fallen,

Far away, the tears are dreadfull !
